Day 4-Saturday, 16 Oct.

Well, it's Saturday and after sleeping in late, cuddling with Vante, playing 'Bat the Mousie' with her and  drinking coffee I am finally ready to do something productive.  So here I am, at your request, making a blog of my Alaskan Adventures.

Yes, Vante did come with me!  I couldn't find her favorite mousie to bring with us, so I bought her a similar one and she loves it.

So far this week I've unpacked, explored two dining halls (of the 3 on base), I've gone to the gym twice (ran 3.5 miles total), and have worked.  However, I have yet to meet my boss, he's TDY for another week and a half.  I also haven't been exploring off-base either.  So I have lots to do and I hope to do it before the first snow flies, which everybody tells me will be soon.

Now, I don't know if you care, but I'm going to tell you anyway a little bit about where I'm staying.  Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson (JBER) is in Anchorage, Alaska and the two bases just joined together on 1 Oct.  (It's already below freezing here.)  I am staying in pet-friendly billeting on Ft Richardson and I work on the Elmendorf side.  I am the temporary Public Affairs Officer for the 477th Fighter Group until Christmas.

In my room I have two bedrooms, two full baths, and a sitting room.  This building was probably once dorms or individual rooms that they have renovated.
Here is the entranceway, the first bath with the best shower is off to the right.  I use this as an entranceway to keep Vante from running out in the hallway when I enter or exit.
This is my bedroom, or should I say Vante's bedroom?
Another view of our bedroom, you can see the TV armoire in the sitting room through the doorway.

Here is the sitting room, it has a small table, mini-fridge and a microwave for all my cooking needs.
And here is the 2nd bedroom.  Vante likes to hang out in this room on the beds.
So as you've seen it's pretty nice and I have nothing to complain about.  Vante and I have plenty of room.  Maybe the only bad part is that I only have a microwave and fridge, but I do have access to three dining halls that are pretty cheap and good, so I'll survive.

Tonight I'm going to an Aces hockey game... so stay tuned.
